This cartoon is indicative of the inherent perils Santa must face as he delivers gifts on Christmas Eve. I thought about typical car travel problems faced, such as the inevitable flat tyre that needs to be replaced and considered what the equivalent might be for a team of reindeer pulling a sleigh.

I decided that it would be a dysfunctional reindeer and determined that Santa must carry a spare reindeer in the boot of his sleigh (assuming sleighs have boots / trunks) for just such occasions.

Initially when colouring this, I was a bit concerned that the dark background colour would detract too much from the main characters. As it turned out, I’m really happy with the contrast and the white lines around the characters help them to stand out even more.
